Famous gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has taken legal action against her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, accusing him of diverting $345,000 in music royalties.
The Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a motion to secure Onyedikachukwu’s appearance in court, leading to a warrant for his arrest issued by the Lagos State Federal High Court.
Onyedikachukwu is set to face arraignment on January 24, 2025, for allegedly failing to remit Chinwo’s fair share of royalties from her online platforms and concerts.
The EFCC revealed that Chinwo had petitioned against the manager, and despite efforts to arrest him, Onyedikachukwu remains elusive. The court granted the application for his arrest on Thursday, and investigations are ongoing.
Mercy Chinwo was signed to Onyedikachukwu’s EeZee Conceptz record label in 2017, following her victory on the second season of Nigerian Idol. Reports in September 2022 indicated that Chinwo left the label due to financial disputes.
