MFM General Overseer Predicts Bright Future for Nigeria Amid Challenges

The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future despite its current challenges. Speaking during the church’s 35th-anniversary celebration, Dr. Olukoya highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s geographical position on the African map as a sign of divine purpose.

“There is a bright future for Nigeria. If you look at the map of Africa, it resembles a gun, with Nigeria positioned where the trigger is held. This is no coincidence—God has a plan for Nigeria. I am a steadfast believer in one Nigeria,” Olukoya stated during an interview on Sunday.

The MFM leader called on Nigerians to seek divine intervention through prayer, emphasizing that human efforts alone might not suffice to address the nation’s challenges. “Divine intervention is what we need; we must pray for it. The Bible reminds us that ‘Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ We need the Lord to lay His hands upon our nation and our leaders, guiding them to make the right decisions that will benefit the people of Nigeria,” he added.

The 35th-anniversary convention, themed “Power from on High,” began on August 16 and concluded on Sunday, August 18, with a Thanksgiving and Holy Communion service at the MFM Prayer City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The church, which began in 1989 with a prayer meeting attended by just 24 people in Dr. Olukoya’s Yaba living room, has since grown into a global ministry.

Looking ahead, Dr. Olukoya shared his vision for the future of MFM, which includes spreading the gospel of Christ worldwide and igniting a global wave of prayer and deliverance. “The next level is to spread the gospel of Christ across the world, delivering the message of salvation throughout our nation and beyond. It’s time to suffocate the world with the gospel and ignite a global wave of deliverance and prayer,” he said.

During the anniversary service, Dr. Olukoya presented awards to 492 church members who graduated with first-class honors. This initiative, which began in 2011, aims to encourage academic excellence among MFM youths. Initially, first-class graduates were rewarded with cars, but as the number of achievers grew, monetary awards were introduced.

“We are encouraging our youth to work hard. I believe MFM has the largest number of first-class graduates in Nigeria. This initiative started in 2011 when 19 students received cars for their academic achievements. However, as the numbers grew, we began awarding money instead. Today, in the sixth edition, we have 492 graduates,” Olukoya recounted.

He encouraged students to view the recognition as a challenge to strive for even greater excellence, urging them to join MFM Campus Fellowships to remain eligible for the awards.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Erelu of Lagos, Chief Abiola Dosumu, and other traditional rulers.
