The recently concluded local government elections in Anambra State, along with the introduction of free education and a new minimum wage for public servants, have sparked various reactions across the state. Chief Samuel Ifurunwa, Chairman of the Old Motor Car Parts Dealers Association, Mgbuka Obosi, praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his integrity and commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Ifurunwa highlighted that the local government elections, which had not been conducted for 11 years, were a significant achievement. He credited Governor Soludo for following through on his promise, especially after a Supreme Court ruling mandated that all states conduct LG elections within three months.
“The elections were free, fair, and credible,” Chief Ifurunwa said. “At Mgbuka Market, people were eager to cast their votes, expressing their support for the governor and his efforts to improve the state.”
Chief Ifurunwa also lauded the governor’s introduction of free education from nursery to secondary school in government schools, describing it as unprecedented. “Parents are overjoyed. I passed by Awada Secondary School and saw parents jubilating and singing the governor’s praises. Governor Soludo is truly doing well.”
On the recently announced minimum wage, Chief Ifurunwa expressed optimism, noting that it reflects the governor’s dedication to improving the welfare of public servants.
He urged the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors to support Governor Soludo’s vision, particularly emphasizing the role of Idemili North Local Government Chairman, Mr. Stanley Nkwoka. Chief Ifurunwa called on Nkwoka to collaborate with market leaders and other stakeholders in his jurisdiction to achieve shared development goals.
He concluded by urging the people of Idemili North to extend their full support to the elected leaders and the governor’s administration.
