Miss Mmesoma Precious Okonkwo, representing Ezeawulu village, has been crowned the winner of the 2024 Ada Nibo Pageant after earning an impressive 325 points.
The prestigious event, held at Nibo Civic Center in Awka South Local Government Area, was organized by Posh Productions in collaboration with Urban Tribe Magazine Limited. It attracted a large audience, including locals and visitors, who were captivated by displays of intellect, cultural richness, and talent from the contestants.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musawa, represented by Mr. Obiorah Nwaigwe, praised the initiative for promoting Igbo culture and nurturing young talents. Chief Chukwuemeka Ndukaku, Head of Ndi Igbo Cultural and Social Enlightenment for Unity Foundation, also commended the organizers for creating a platform to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Igbo people.
Mr. Onyebuchi Ezeagabo, the event organizer, explained that the Ada Nibo Pageant aims to showcase Igbo traditions while empowering women. He emphasized the need for a shift in societal attitudes towards women, advocating for their inclusion and empowerment.
Miss Okonkwo expressed gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to highlight her talents. She pledged to use her platform to advocate for the girl child and contribute to societal development.
The event also featured award presentations to dignitaries, including Barrister Musawa, and cash prizes for the top contestants. Stella Onuora of Umuanum village emerged as the first runner-up, while Onyinyechukwu Agede of Ezeoke village was the second runner-up.
