In a bid to combat poverty and unemployment, Chief Chukwudi Maduabum, an illustrious son of Ojoto, has empowered members of the community through his charitable organization, More Blessings Foundation.
At a ceremony held at his country home in Umuezeani, Umuezema village, Ojoto, Idemili South Council Area, beneficiaries received items such as grinding machines, sewing machines, garri processing machines, cheques, wrappers, bags of rice, tubers of yam, and two live cows.
The event began with a holy mass officiated by Rev. Father Patrick Ezeifedi, Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ojoto. In his homily, Father Ezeifedi commended the initiative as a noble act of charity and urged beneficiaries to use the items responsibly.
Chief Maduabum, alongside his wife, Jane, explained that the empowerment program, inspired by divine guidance, has been running for over 25 years. The couple pledged to sustain the initiative, which aims to uplift the vulnerable.
Speaking at the event, the foundation’s Chairman, Chief Anayo Chukwujama, emphasized the importance of supporting widows and the less privileged by providing tools to help them start businesses and contribute positively to society.
Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Amaka Obi, Chairman of Idemili South Council Area; Barr. Ernest Obunadike, President General of the community; Mr. Nasiru Kaila, Commanding Officer of 29 PMF Awka; and notable friends of the host, Chief Frank Okafor and Chief Chidozie Okwuosa. They hailed the initiative as a societal obligation and encouraged other wealthy individuals to invest in human development.
Beneficiaries like Mrs. Sylvaline Mbakwe and Mrs. Ijeoma Ezendu expressed their gratitude, pledging to use the items effectively to improve their livelihoods and contribute to societal growth.
The empowerment event highlights the transformative impact of the More Blessings Foundation, reaffirming its commitment to fostering self-reliance and community development.
