The Executive Director of Mount Olive School, Onitsha, Mrs. Veronica Osanakpo, has encouraged families to embrace hope and resilience despite the economic challenges facing the country.
She made this call during the unveiling of her new book, *The Space Between*, in Onitsha over the weekend as part of activities marking her 64th birthday celebration. The book highlights trust, communication, support, transformation, and the power of love as essential elements in navigating family dynamics.
Osanakpo emphasized that one of the key takeaways from her book is the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care, particularly for young wives and mothers. She noted that even in difficult times, individuals can find strength and perseverance.
Expressing gratitude to her family, friends, and well-wishers for their support throughout the book’s writing and production process, she recounted the challenges she faced and the motivation she drew from her personal experiences and environment.
“The book will inspire readers, challenge them, and remind them of the power of love and relationships to transform lives. It serves as a wake-up call for people to embark on their creative journeys, pursue their passions, and never give up on their dreams,” Osanakpo said.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Emeka Eze, a former deputy governorship candidate in Anambra State and Chief Medical Director of Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, underscored the importance of strong family foundations.
“I feel highly elated to be here for this book launch. Contrary to the saying that a book should not be judged by its cover, this particular book will be judged by its title. Vero Osanakpo is a virtuous woman, an outstanding educator, and a role model. Many children have passed through her school and become champions in education. I encourage everyone to get a copy of this book,” Eze said.
Also speaking at the event, the Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube Muonso), commended the author for using her knowledge to guide families toward living fulfilling lives.
Reflecting on the decline in reading culture, Obimma urged society to return to the era of literary giants like Chinua Achebe and Cyprian Ekwensi, emphasizing the importance of knowledge.
“Christ has given marriage the grace of a sacrament, and if any marriage is built on His principles, it will surely survive. Knowledge is power, and there is nothing that empowers people more than learning. We must revive the reading culture because wisdom comes through learning,” he stated.
