Mountain Top University (MTU), under the leadership of its Chancellor and General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, reaffirmed its dedication to integrating vocational training with academic excellence during its 6th Convocation Ceremony held at Prayer City.
Dr. Olukoya emphasized MTU’s mission to produce well-rounded graduates equipped to tackle societal challenges. He highlighted the inclusion of vocational skills such as bread making, fashion designing, and musical instrument training, which complement the university’s academic programs.
“Our vision is to train graduates who will not only excel academically but also contribute positively to their communities and the world. We aim to produce self-sufficient individuals who are employers of labor and agents of transformation,” Olukoya said.
He added that MTU is committed to developing graduates with integrity, moral soundness, and academic excellence, guided by a strong foundation in the word of God and deliverance prayers.
Dr. Olukoya also praised his wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Folashade Olukoya, for her mentorship, particularly for female students, shaping them into future leaders, mothers, and role models.
During the ceremony, 378 students graduated, with 50 earning first-class honors. Ms. Oni Itunu-Oluwa, the Best Graduating Student from the Department of Food Science and Technology, was celebrated for achieving a remarkable 4.98 GPA. She received a ₦2 million gift from Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Keynote speaker and Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, encouraged the graduates to harness their talents to address societal problems.
“Our society needs dynamic young people like you. Embrace every opportunity with the determination to fulfill your greater purpose,” he urged.
MTU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi, commended the graduating class for their academic achievements and reiterated the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are academically excellent and practically skilled to drive societal progress.
Dr. Olukoya acknowledged the contributions of philanthropist Prince Alex Mbata for his efforts toward societal transformation.
