When I first heard the story from the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, here on this blue app a few days ago, I asked myself how it could possibly be true. It sounded so fictitious, but because it came from the commissioner herself, I had to believe it wasn’t a Nollywood script.
According to the Commissioner, the 18-year-old boy reportedly got his master’s daughter, the sales girl, and 8 other girls pregnant in just five months.
She said that this boy confidently told her: “I just tell them I love them and want to marry them when I get money, and they’ll allow me to sleep with them.” What a world!.
Then, here’s my honest thoughts: If nothing is done now, who knows how many more innocent girls he’ll drag into emotional and physical chaos? Twenty? Thirty? This is beyond shocking; it’s a ticking time bomb.
MY ADVICE:
This boy should be taken to a rehabilitation home , and he should be properly interrogated to find out how the whole thing started. In addition, his family background and environment should be thoroughly assessed to determine if there are underlying issues influencing his behavior. Counseling and psychological support should also be considered, both for him and for anyone affected by his actions. If he’s found to be mentally stable, appropriate legal or disciplinary action should be taken. However, if he’s mentally unstable, then he should be placed under professional care and monitored closely to prevent future occurrences.
Moreso, parents should wake up to there responsibility of child upbringing. They should start having real conversations with their daughters about love, deception, and self-worth. And the boys? They should be guided before they become problems the society will regret.
But aside from all these, one question has been popping up in my mind since the incident. If this had happened in my family, what will i do?. If it happens in your own family, What will you do?. May God forgive bad things and save us from such public embarrassment.
