” We are elated. We are very happy. Mr Governor has graciously approved that nobody in Anambra state will go home with anything less than N70000 as take home(net not gross).”

” He has also graciously approved that every pensioner in Anambra state at the end of every month will be getting additional N10000 as award. Money that will not be taxable. They will receive the money and add it to their pension starting from this October. So, its a thing of joy. We are happy. The labour leaders in Anambra state are happy. We are happy with our Governor and we pray that God will continue to bless him for us in Jesus name – Amen”, said Comrade Nwafor who spoke on behalf of labour leaders.

Governor Soludo while speaking at the meeting announced that he had approved the proposal brought by organized labour which ensures that the Minimum Take-Home for a worker (after all deductions, including tax and Union dues) was at least N70,000 per month. That means that the gross salary could range from N78,000 to N84,000 monthly.

According to him, every worker in the state including the new 8,115 teachers and other 3,300 workers employed since he assumed office barely 30 months ago were included.

” In addition, we considered the plight of our pensioners. We also approved a monthly, non-taxable cash award of N10,000 to our pensioners (in addition to their monthly pension)”, the Governor said.
