The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) conducted a series of coordinated raids on Tuesday, targeting supermarkets and open markets in areas including Wuse and Garki in Abuja. The agency seized unregistered and counterfeit cosmetics valued at N37 million.
NAFDAC shared details of the operation through its official X handle, accompanied by images and videos from the raids. The agency stated that the action was part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate counterfeit and illegally imported cosmetic products from the market in Nigeria’s capital.
In a statement, NAFDAC affirmed its commitment to investigating the sources of these illegal products and promised strict regulatory action against those involved. The agency also noted that all seized items would be destroyed in accordance with its laws and regulations to ensure public safety.
