NAPTIP Condemns Posting of Obscene Pictures of Four-Year-Old, Launches Investigation

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has strongly denounced the posting of explicit images of a four-year-old girl by her father on social media. The disturbing photos, shared by the father from Edo State, sparked outrage among social media users, prompting calls for intervention from NAPTIP and law enforcement agencies.

In the shocking posts, the father captioned the images with alarming statements, indicating a disturbing attitude towards his own daughter. Reacting to the outcry, NAPTIP issued a statement on its official Twitter handle, @naptipnigeria, condemning the act as child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which constitutes a criminal offense.

Expressing gratitude to those who raised awareness about the situation, NAPTIP assured the public that relevant authorities had been notified, and efforts were underway to remove the offensive content from social media platforms. The agency emphasized the seriousness of the offense and urged the public to refrain from further sharing the unsanitized pictures, as doing so only exacerbates the problem and could lead to legal repercussions.

The response from NAPTIP was echoed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed that the matter had been reported to the Edo Police Command for investigation. Adejobi emphasized the importance of counseling the parents involved, indicating a focus on intervention and support rather than immediate prosecution.
