NDDC Trains 200 Women and Youths in Livestock Farming and Agro-Processing in Delta State

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has successfully concluded a training program for 200 women and youths in livestock farming and agro-processing at Okiemutie Farms, Eku Amukpe, in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

During the closing ceremony of the training and empowerment program, NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, emphasized the importance of agriculture as a key sector for addressing unemployment and poverty in the region. Represented by the NDDC Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr. Winifred Madume, Ogbuku highlighted the program’s focus on women, who play a significant role in farming across the Niger Delta.

He urged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training to contribute to the development of the livestock industry in the region. Ogbuku also revealed the NDDC’s partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to provide further apprenticeship opportunities for residents of the Niger Delta.

This was disclosed in a statement by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama.
