The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Augustine Eguavoen, the federation’s technical director, will manage the Super Eagles for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
This decision follows German coach Bruno Labbadia’s decision to decline the offer to lead the Nigerian national team on Friday.
Eguavoen, who has previously led the Super Eagles on three occasions (2005-2007, 2010, and 2022), will now take charge for a fourth stint as head coach. His immediate task will be to guide the team through the crucial AFCON qualifiers.
The Super Eagles are set to host the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, September 7. Just three days later, they will face the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The team is scheduled to open their training camp in Uyo next Monday as they prepare for both fixtures.
