The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed plans to appoint a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles. This decision emerged from a meeting of top NFF officials held on Thursday.
Attendees included President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, 1st Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, 2nd Vice President Gbenga Elegbeleye, and members Yusuf Ahmed, Babagana Kalli, Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, Sunday Dele-Ajayi, Aisha Falode, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, Nse Essien, Margaret Icheen, Timothy Heman Magaji, Silas Agara, George Aluo, Nkechi Nneka Obi, and Secretary Mohammed Sanusi.
The NFF issued a communiqué apologizing to fans for the national team’s subpar performances in four out of 10 matches during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The federation committed to implementing necessary measures ahead of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers in September 2024 and the resumption of World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
The communiqué stated, “The Executive Committee resolved to employ an expatriate technical adviser for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks, ahead of the AFCON qualifiers and the remaining FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.”
The committee also expressed dissatisfaction with the “poor attitude of some of the players towards national assignments” and unanimously decided to enhance the scouting program for outstanding Nigeria-eligible players globally to bolster the national team.
