The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to appoint a local coach on an interim basis for the Super Eagles. This decision comes as the team prepares for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with fixtures scheduled against Benin on September 7 and Rwanda on September 10.
The Super Eagles have been without a permanent head coach since Finidi George’s resignation. NFF Technical Director Austin Eguaveon previously indicated that a new coach would be announced this week, but recent developments suggest that a permanent appointment may not be finalized in time for the qualifiers.
Speculation over the weekend linked Swedish coach Janne Andersson to the role, but it appears that a local interim solution will be implemented while the search for a permanent coach continues.
