Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming November 8, 2025 election in Anambra State.
The APC primary election, held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center in Awka, saw Ukachukwu secure 1,455 out of 1,630 total votes, with 26 votes declared invalid. His closest rival, Mr. Val Ozigbo, came second with 67 votes. John Bosco Onunkwo received 26 votes, while Edozie Mmadu finished with 8 votes.
The Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Bassey Otu, who served as the Chief Returning Officer, announced the results and praised the peaceful conduct of the election. He commended security agencies, party officials, aspirants, and delegates for their roles in ensuring the success of the primary, and urged all party members to rally behind the winner in preparation for the general election.
In his address, Prince Ukachukwu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership for a smooth and transparent process. He thanked party members for their trust and promised to deliver victory for the APC in the main election.
Also speaking at the event, APC State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, applauded the efforts of the national and state party structures and emphasized the importance of unity to secure a win in November.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Elizabeth Agwu, were present throughout the overnight voting process.
