Nigeria Concludes Paris 2024 Paralympic Games with Seven Medals

Nigeria has wrapped up its campaign at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, securing a total of seven medals and finishing 40th in the overall medal table. The country’s impressive haul includes two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

Onyinyechi Mark made history by breaking the Paralympic record in the women’s 61kg powerlifting category with a remarkable lift of 145kg, earning one of Nigeria’s two gold medals.

Another gold came from Folashade Oluwafemiayo, who triumphed in the women’s over 86kg powerlifting category.

Bose Omolayo contributed a silver medal with her performance in the women’s up to 79kg Para-powerlifting event, also lifting 145kg.

In athletics, Flora Ugwunwa secured a silver medal in the Women’s Javelin F54 category with a throw of 19.26m. Esther Nworgu added to Nigeria’s tally with a silver in the women’s up to 41kg powerlifting category.

In Para Table Tennis, Isau Ogunkunle made history by becoming the first Nigerian player to win an individual medal in the sport since the Sydney 2000 Games, claiming bronze in the Men’s Singles Class 4 event.

This marks another proud moment for Nigeria, continuing its tradition of success at the Paralympic Games.
