The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a police inspector and demoted three officers, taking decisive action against crimes and irregularities within its ranks. This was disclosed in an official statement posted on the NPF X handle on Friday night.
According to the statement, the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline, emphasizing the importance of upholding professionalism and integrity within the force. The IG highlighted that the police mandate is to serve and protect with honor, and breaches of core values will be met with strict actions to maintain public trust and ensure justice.
“In line with this policy, all cases reported against personnel have been thoroughly addressed, and appropriate justice has been served,” the statement read. It further noted that many erring officers have been sanctioned, with several cases still undergoing orderly room trials.
One notable case involved Inspector Adabo Mohammed, who was dismissed for offenses including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, and corrupt practices. Mohammed, along with five others, was part of an armed robbery gang responsible for stealing N29.8 million in Gwagwalada, FCT, and kidnapping Ikechukwu Emmanuel Okafor in Tunga Manje, demanding a ransom of N4.4 million. Mohammed has been charged to court.
Additionally, the statement revealed that Inspectors Osagie Efford, Semiu Agbekin, and Francis Ahuen, attached to the Special Tactical Squad, were demoted to the rank of Sergeant for extorting motorists in Abuja.
