Nigerian football enthusiasts are expressing confidence that Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho will excel in La Liga with Sevilla, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.
Sevilla announced the signing of the 27-year-old forward on Wednesday night, following a successful medical examination on Tuesday. Iheanacho, formerly with Leicester City, has signed a two-year contract with the Andalusian club after his contract with the Foxes expired at the end of last season.
Last season, Iheanacho played a limited role in Leicester City’s return to the English Premier League, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 26 appearances. He will now wear Sevilla’s white jersey for the 2024/25 season.
Fans have high expectations for the 2013 FIFA U-17 Golden Boy in Spain. A user on X, Mr. Xperience, confidently wrote, “Watch him score more goals than Ferran Torres, Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal. The second-best attacker just arrived in La Liga after Kylian Mbappe.”
Another user, Ayodeji, added, “Senior man will light up your farmer’s league.”
Stretch commented, “Senior man Kelechi is about to light up La Liga,” while MalamBuba pleaded, “Senior Man, please don’t score against my team, Real Madrid.”
Ethan tweeted, “We all know the quality Iheanacho possesses, and it really baffles me that he struggled in the Premier League. La Liga is all about technique, and I do not doubt that he will excel there. Congratulations, Senior Man Kel.”
Temitope Usman echoed these sentiments, saying, “Whoever made this move come to reality has done Kelechi a lot of good because I believe he just went to the league where he will be able to make good use of his techniques. I am confident that he will do very well in Spain.”
Iheanacho will join fellow Nigerian Chidera Ejuke at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, as Sevilla aims to rebuild after a disappointing 2023/24 season, finishing 14th in La Liga.
