Nigerian Navy Brings Medical Relief to Ogbaru Communities

The Nigerian Navy’s Naval Outpost in Onitsha has extended a wave of medical support to the Odekpe community and its surrounding areas in Ogbaru Local Government Area, providing crucial healthcare services to residents.

The initiative, held at the Odekpe Primary Health Care Centre, included the distribution of postnatal care bags to over 50 women, along with a range of essential medical services such as blood pressure and sugar level checks, eyesight evaluations with medicated glasses, and the provision of mosquito nets, sanitary pads, and other healthcare supplies for expectant mothers.

Navy Captain Musa Jarma, Commanding Officer of the Onitsha Outpost, stated that the outreach was part of the non-kinetic activities of *Operation Delta Sanity III*, aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and supporting the health and well-being of host communities. He emphasized that the effort was a step toward restoring peace and security in the region by addressing the needs of its people.

Community leaders, including Igwe Chukwuma Onyia, represented by Prince Isamade Onyebuchi, and Councillor-elect Nnamdi Xmai, expressed their appreciation for the Navy’s intervention, praising the support provided to improve community health and security.

The Officer in charge of the Primary Health Care Centre, Mrs. Ifeoma Muolokwu, and an expectant mother, Mrs. Uzoma Chinwendu, also thanked the Nigerian Navy for its efforts, expressing hope that the gesture would continue.

The event concluded with the official handover of medical supplies to the health centre and expectant mothers.
