The Nigerian Naval Outpost in Onitsha, Anambra State, has donated food items worth millions of naira to Madonna Angels Orphanage Home in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area, as part of its ‘Food Rhapsody’ initiative.
The gesture, a non-kinetic approach to fostering civil-military relationships, marked the conclusion of Operation Delta Sanity 3.
### Strengthening Community Ties
Navy Captain Musa Jarma, Commanding Officer of the Naval Outpost, represented by Navy Commander Kabiru Yusuf, stated that the initiative aims to build goodwill, win the trust of locals, and deepen ties with host communities.
He explained that the choice of Madonna Angels Orphanage was deliberate to ensure the children experience the joy of the yuletide season and beyond.
“The outpost has previously organized initiatives like medical outreach and educational programs, all geared towards enhancing community well-being,” Jarma added.
### Gratitude from the Orphanage
Rev. Sister Justina Ugh Anne, General Manager of the orphanage, expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting the Navy’s commitment to humanitarian services and community development. She was joined by the Manager, Mr. Okwuoyibo Fidelis, in thanking the Navy for its timely intervention.
The children also expressed joy and appreciation through songs, prayers, and intercessions for the sacrifices of the Navy.
This initiative underscores the Nigerian Navy’s dedication to promoting peace, harmony, and community development within its areas of operation.
