Nigerians have taken center stage on the recently released “Africa’s Most Talked About People of 2024” list by Top Charts Africa, occupying 18 of the top 30 positions.
Topping the chart is Nigerian music icon Wizkid, whose renewed rivalry with Davido and the release of his album *Morayo* kept him in the spotlight throughout the year.
Kenyan President William Ruto secured the second position following global attention drawn by mass protests in Kenya over tax increases earlier in the year. His decision to reject a controversial tax Bill and subsequently sign the “Appropriations Bill 2024” further cemented his place on the list.
Nigerian afrobeats star Davido claimed the third spot, with his much-publicized wedding to Chioma, dubbed “Chivido 2024,” being a major highlight of the year.
Other notable Nigerians in the top 10 include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, business magnate Aliko Dangote, politician Peter Obi, and controversial internet personality Bobrisky. South African singer Tyla and Kenyan political figures Raila Odinga and Liema Pantsi also made the list.
The list features a diverse mix of influential personalities across Africa, including Equatoguinean ex-official Baltasar Engonga, who gained notoriety after his personal videos surfaced online, and South African singer Khosi Twala, known for her breakout year.
