Nigerians have come together to raise funds for a 26-year-old woman who turned to prostitution out of desperation to cover the cost of her goitre surgery.

In a viral video interview conducted by street comedian Comicmiss2, the unidentified woman bravely shared her struggles with health challenges, explaining that she resorted to engaging in prostitution to raise funds for her surgery since November 2023.

In the emotional video, she emphasized that she did not choose prostitution willingly but felt compelled to do so due to her dire circumstances. Displaying the visible swelling in her throat, she expressed hope that divine intervention would aid her in overcoming her challenges.

Despite managing to save approximately 150,000 Naira towards her surgery, the woman revealed that the estimated cost was 700,000 Naira, leaving her with a significant shortfall. She pledged to cease her involvement in prostitution once she had the means to cover her medical expenses.

The video prompted an outpouring of support from Nigerians across social media platforms, with many expressing a desire to assist her in accessing the necessary medical care. Street comedian Comicmiss2, who conducted the interview, posted her account details on Facebook, urging her followers to contribute towards the woman’s surgery fund.

While acknowledging that only 36,000 Naira had been raised thus far, Comicmiss2 remained optimistic about the collective impact of the fundraising efforts. Despite facing criticism for posting her personal account details, she clarified that her intention was to facilitate immediate assistance for the woman, whose contact information she had been unable to obtain.
