Nigeria’s Flamingoes Arrive in Dominican Republic for Final World Cup Preparations

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team, the Flamingoes, have arrived in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to begin their final preparations ahead of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The contingent, which includes 21 players, technical crew members, and officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), landed on Thursday afternoon after departing Nigeria via Turkish Airlines on Tuesday.

Coach Bankole Olowookere’s squad will train in Santo Domingo for two weeks before the tournament kicks off. The Flamingoes are drawn in Group A, alongside the host nation Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and New Zealand.

Nigeria will face New Zealand in their opening match on Wednesday, October 16. The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will run from October 16 to November 3.
