Eintracht Frankfurt defender, Nnamdi Collins, who is eligible to represent both Germany and Nigeria, has expressed that he is not rushing to make his senior debut for the Germany national team. Born in Germany to Nigerian parents, Collins is highly regarded as one of the brightest young talents in German football, thanks to his imposing height, pace, and impressive performances at youth levels.
Despite his talent, the 20-year-old defender emphasized that he wants to continue his football development before focusing on international duty. Speaking to Sky Germany, Collins acknowledged that representing the Germany national team would be a dream, but it is not something he is actively seeking at the moment.
“I always dreamed about playing for the national team, and it would be a lie if I said otherwise,” Collins said. However, he added that for now, his focus is on winning games for Eintracht Frankfurt and helping the U-21 team succeed in the upcoming European Championship.
Collins revealed that although he had heard reports about being on the radar of Germany’s manager, Julian Nagelsmann, he remains focused on improving and contributing to his team’s success. He stressed that he is not under pressure and prefers to let future opportunities unfold naturally. His priority is to remain in form, perform well for his club, and aim for the upcoming European Championship with Germany’s U-21 team.
The decision of which national team Collins will ultimately choose remains uncertain, but he has made it clear that he is not in a hurry and is dedicated to his ongoing football development.
