Nnokwa Youths Highlight Social Vices in One-Day Sensitization Programme for Students

In a concerted effort to build a better society and secure the future of the younger generation, Nnokwa youths organized a sensitization programme to raise awareness about the negative impacts of social vices and to guide students on making informed career choices.

The event, held at Ubili Civic Center in Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area, featured lectures on the dangers of social vices, strategies for making productive career choices, and proper sexual orientation.

Guest speakers Dr. Nkem Okafor, Sir Charles Abaekih, and Mrs. Adamaka Edozie addressed the students on avoiding drug abuse, cultism, and other addictive behaviors, while also offering advice on how to choose a career and build a successful future.

Mrs. Amaka Obi, Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South Local Government, praised the initiative and urged students to steer clear of behaviors that could negatively impact their lives and future prospects. She encouraged other communities to adopt similar programs for value reorientation, fostering young individuals who are committed to becoming great leaders.

Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, Chairman of the Post Primary School Service Commission, represented by Mr. Modestus Ogbuezi, Head of ICT at the commission, lauded the program’s uniqueness and encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunity. She highlighted the supportive educational environment created by Governor Chukwuma Soludo and urged students to excel and become ambassadors for their society.

Nnokwa Youth President, Comrade Ifeanyi Eriobu, emphasized the urgent need for the event due to the rising moral decay and involvement of young people in social vices. He stressed that early prevention is crucial and aligned with Governor Soludo’s vision for Anambra’s future, which requires leaders with the right mindset.

Miss Chisom Ude from Ave Maria Secondary School expressed gratitude on behalf of the students, assuring that they would apply what they learned to become better individuals for society.

The interactive programme attracted students from four secondary schools in Nnokwa, the President General of Nnokwa Progress Union, Comm. Joe Anyika, and others, culminating in the presentation of gifts to the most engaging students.
