Popular Nollywood actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has announced his intention to lead a protest to the Lagos State House of Assembly, demanding justice for the late singer Mohbad. The demonstration is set for September 30, coinciding with the resumption of the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Fabiyi urged the public to join him in pressuring the police to access the CCTV footage from Mohbad’s residence, which he believes is crucial to uncovering the truth behind the singer’s untimely demise.

Fabiyi emphasized that the protest aims to prompt the Lagos State government to intervene and establish a committee dedicated to retrieving the CCTV content. He stated, “It is imperative that we mount legitimate pressure and protest peacefully at the Lagos State House of Assembly on the 30th of September, 2024.”

He accused those responsible for Mohbad’s death of attempting to cover up evidence and creating distractions. “We are certain that the CCTV cameras in and around Mohbad’s house were operational and that they store footage remotely,” he noted, adding that the builders of similar properties and the security details of the area might have information about the stored footage.

Frustrated with the police’s lack of action, Fabiyi called on the people of Lagos to unite for the cause. “We need the true representatives of the people of Lagos State to intervene and set up a committee to investigate and reveal the truth,” he said.

He concluded by inviting everyone to join the protest, urging participants to be orderly and civil. “COME ONE, COME ALL, AND LET’S SPEAK IN ONE VOICE on the 30th of September 2024. This struggle needs you.”
