NPF Cybercrime Unit Recovers N8 Billion, Crowned Africa’s Best

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has achieved remarkable success in combating cybercrime, recovering a total of **₦8.8 billion** in 2024. This milestone, along with other significant recoveries, has earned the NPF National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) the title of “Best Cybercrime Unit in Africa” for 2024 by the INTERPOL Cybercrime Directorate in Singapore, beating 53 other African nations.

The NPF-NCCC also restituted **115,237.91 USDT** and **$84,000** to victims of cybercrime, reaffirming its commitment to justice. Throughout 2024, the unit arrested over **751 cybercrime suspects** and confiscated **685 devices**, including 467 mobile phones, 137 laptops, and 46 routers. It also seized 16 houses, 39 plots of land, 26 vehicles, and other assets used in cybercriminal activities.

The police further showcased its proactive efforts by parading four suspects: Douglass Victor, Egbo Efe Martins, Lucky Adesunloye, and Ndifreke Joseph Moody, who were apprehended for various cyber-related offences.

In addition to operational achievements, the NPF has emphasized public awareness to combat cyber threats, urging citizens to safeguard sensitive information and practice caution online.

“The Nigeria Police remains steadfast in its fight against cybercrime, ensuring the digital safety of its citizens while fortifying the nation’s cybersecurity framework,” stated ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer.

This landmark achievement underscores the NPF’s commitment to protecting Nigerians from digital threats, setting a standard for law enforcement across Africa.
