The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State, Comdt. Maku Olatunde A., on April 24, conducted an on-the-spot security assessment at various JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers in Awka.
During the visit, Commandant Maku evaluated the security arrangements and engaged with officers stationed at the centers to ensure a smooth and safe examination environment.
According to SC Okadigbo Edwin, Head of Media and Tactical Unit, NSCDC Anambra Command, the centers visited included the JAMB Office ICT Center, St. Patrick’s College Awka, and St. John of God Awka. All centers reported smooth operations, strong security presence, zero incidents, and cooperative support from JAMB officials.
While addressing deployed personnel, Commandant Maku emphasized the importance of professionalism and courteous conduct. He urged officers to treat candidates with respect to create a positive and reassuring atmosphere during the examinations.
“Your behavior reflects not only on you as individuals but on the integrity of the entire security agency,” he said. “I commend your diligence and professionalism in maintaining a peaceful JAMB examination process.”
In addition to the Commandant’s visit, a separate monitoring team led by Deputy Commandants Prominence Ukaobi, Akaachia Godwin, and Alada Yakubu was dispatched to supervise security at CBT centers outside the Awka metropolis.
The security checks form part of broader efforts to ensure the safety and success of the nationwide JAMB examination process.
