The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has mobilised 1,531 operatives to ensure the safety and security of critical infrastructure ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Commandant Maku Olatunde A, who leads the NSCDC in Anambra, made this known on Tuesday following a high-level strategic briefing with senior officers, area commanders, divisional officers, and heads of formations at the State Command Headquarters in Awka.
To bolster security operations, personnel will also be drawn from neighbouring states, including Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Delta.
Commandant Olatunde stated that the NSCDC, in collaboration with other security agencies, has ramped up covert surveillance and joint operations such as raids on suspected criminal hideouts. He added that visible confidence-building patrols are ongoing to reassure the public and maintain peace during the high-profile visit.
“Our personnel will be strategically stationed at key locations such as the airport, government buildings, bridges, markets, parks, electricity and telecommunication facilities, as well as other sensitive points across the state before, during, and after the visit,” he said.
The Commandant also confirmed that NSCDC officers would line the President’s travel routes, helping to manage crowds and enforce access control at designated areas.
He urged officers to act with professionalism, civility, and in close coordination with sister agencies. Members of the public were advised to remain law-abiding as they welcome the President.
The update was issued by SC Okadigbo Edwin, Head of the Media and Tactical Unit of the NSCDC Anambra State Command, on behalf of the State Commandant.
