The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining and enhancing its long-standing partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), particularly in safeguarding Corps Members and NYSC facilities across the country.
This assurance was given by the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, during a courtesy visit by the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at the Corps’ national headquarters.
Dr. Audi emphasized the NSCDC’s responsibility to ensure the security of NYSC assets and personnel. He commended the NYSC for its significant role in promoting national unity and fostering youth development, describing it as a key contributor to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.
He pledged that the NSCDC had sufficient manpower to deploy to NYSC Orientation Camps, offices, and Corps Lodges nationwide. He also assured the NYSC DG of continued support and readiness to respond to any security-related requests from the Scheme.
On his part, Brigadier General Nafiu explained that the visit was part of his ongoing engagements with stakeholders as he settles into his new role. He praised the NSCDC for its consistent support and collaborative efforts with other NYSC partner agencies.
He also called for even greater synergy between the NSCDC and its sister agencies to ensure the safety of Corps Members and NYSC property. The NYSC boss concluded by assuring the NSCDC of the Scheme’s support wherever necessary.
