The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, has praised the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) for nominating a female candidate, Ndidi Patience Ofure Key, for the upcoming Edo State governorship election on September 21. During a courtesy visit by the PRP delegation, the monarch expressed his admiration for the party’s choice, acknowledging the significance of a woman being selected as the party’s flag bearer in a traditionally male-dominated political landscape.

In her address, Ndidi Patience Ofure Key stated that her visit to the palace was to seek the Royal Father’s prayers and blessings. She highlighted the challenges facing Edo State, including retrogression, hunger, and suffering, and pledged to address these issues through a focus on human capital development, economic diversification, and environmental transformation if elected.
