Abuja came alive on April 12, 2025, as nightlife mogul and entrepreneur Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, celebrated his 50th birthday in grand fashion. The event, themed “50 for 50,” blended luxury, music, faith, and cultural heritage in a series of elaborate festivities.
Known by the title Okpataozueora1, the Cubana Group founder kicked off the milestone with a symbolic Instagram post, sharing a regal image of himself in traditional attire alongside the caption: “12.04.25 Happy Birthday, Obi Cubana. 50yrs! 50for50.”
His wife, Ebele Iyiegbu, also known as Lush Eby, posted a heartfelt tribute, calling him “my gift, Dim oma,” as the celebrations began ahead of the main event.
The festivities included live music, traditional dancers, and cultural performances at Obi Cubana’s residence. A standout moment came from highlife artist Anyidons, who premiered a special tribute song titled “Obi Cubana Special (Okpole Nwa Mama).”
On April 11, Samsung Nigeria hosted an exclusive pre-birthday soirée, “The Night Before 50,” where 50 Samsung S25 smartphones were gifted to guests. The night concluded with an all-white party followed by a family gathering at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
The official birthday began on a spiritual note with a Holy Communion and Thanksgiving Service. In partnership with Gold Bar Whiskey, Cubana launched a birthday campaign titled “Golden Age with Gold Bar,” offering artists a chance to win N2 million, a luxury car, and VIP access to parties by designing a custom 50th birthday logo.
Gifts poured in from friends and associates, including two trailers of 50 tricycles from Ituma Chukwuemeka of Enviable Transport Limited, and 50 branded minibuses from CIG Motors, led by Jubril of Lagos and Chairman Diana Cheng. Sonia Foods contributed 2,000 cartons of tomatoes, while 50 attendees received fashion items courtesy of Lush Eby.
Other unusual gifts included 50 rams, 50 Bibles, and a bag of cash delivered by Obi Cubana’s brother.
The main event, held at Transcorp Hilton, featured a black, white, and gold-themed ballroom adorned with golden chairs, chandeliers, and giant portraits of the celebrant. The star-studded guest list included Kanayo O. Kanayo, Kennedy Okonkwo, Cubana Chief Priest, AY Makun, E-Money, Daddy Freeze, Jowizaza, and Zubby Michael.
