The Obi of Awka Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obi Dr. Gibson Nwabueze Nwosu (Ezeuzu 11 of Awka) received the United Nations Resident & Humanitarian Cordinator, Mr Mathias Schmale earlier today in his palace. The UN representative paid a courtesy visit to Awka palace in company of the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi
Speaking at the Palace, the Governor of Anambra who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Ezeajughi thanked Ezeuzu II of Awka for receiving them at his palace. He thanked Awka Town for being a peaceful landlord to the Government of Anambra State. He also appreciated the UN representative for finding Anambra State worthy for the august visit.
Mr. Mathias Schamale thanked His Majesty Obi Gibson Nwosu for the warm reception to them. While explaining the purpose of the visit, he acknowledged that Anambra State is the first stop in the entire South East after he had visited North East and Abuja. He noted that the United Nations has a role to promote peace in Nigeria, most especially the South East. He further added that the UN looks beyond the Government, hence the reason why they engage with critical stakeholders. He said Anambra is the most entrepreneurial state in Nigeria. According to him, the UN might not solve developmental issues but can help build the potentials of ndi Anambra.
Obi Gibson Nwosu in his response thanked the United Nations representative for visiting the palace of Awka Kingdom. He presented a Key to Mr. Schamale and told him that with the key, he is free to visit the palace any time. He thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo for the works he has done so far in Anambra State and prayed for more success as he turns Anambra to a liveable Society
Finally, Mr. Mathias adorned the King with a Lapel Badge of Recognition as one of the foremost Traditional Ruler in the Eastern Part of Nigeria.
