Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has expressed confidence that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, will win the 2027 presidential race, citing Obi’s integrity and experience. Yunusa stressed that unlike in 2023, when Obi’s victory was allegedly thwarted by electoral fraud, the movement is committed to ensuring a transparent election process this time, advocating for electoral reform, strategic polling unit presence, and a mass-appointed INEC chairman.
Speaking in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Saturday during a Good Governance Symposium organized by the Obidient Movement, Yunusa emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had failed to meet the expectations of the North, East, and West, positioning Obi as the next viable candidate for the presidency.
Prof. Pat Utomi, the keynote speaker at the event, also championed the movement, noting that after years of failed leadership, the Obidient Movement offers a new path forward for Nigeria. Utomi emphasized that the movement is about sacrifice and collective effort to build a better Nigeria.
The event, which aimed at strengthening the Obidient Movement in the Southeast, was also attended by Labour Party governorship aspirants in Anambra, including Chief Valentine Ozigbo, Chief John Nwosu, and Chief Ikenna Azomcine, who all called for a change in Anambra’s leadership. The symposium is part of ongoing efforts to reposition the movement for future success in both the state and national politics.
