The Anambra State Government, through the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade, has commenced strict enforcement of its zero-tolerance policy on environmental and social violations, beginning with the demolition of illegal shanties.
The enforcement exercise, which kicked off at the Igbariam section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, aligns with the state government’s commitment to ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for residents and visitors.
Speaking after the operation, the Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, emphasized that the exercise follows government directives to clear shanties built under high-tension lines, as well as illegal roadside trading and unauthorized structures.
He urged traders to relocate to government-approved markets rather than risk their lives by conducting business on the roads. Anere reiterated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration remains committed to transforming Anambra into a clean, organized, and investment-friendly state.
