Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Issues Ultimatum to Security Agencies Following Nimbo Massacre

In the wake of the tragic massacre in Nimbo, Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, the Youth Wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide has delivered a stern ultimatum to Nigerian security agencies. The ultimatum, set at seven days, demands the apprehension of the assailants responsible for the heinous attack.

The assault, allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen, resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries within the community. In response, following an emergency National Executive Committee Meeting, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the National leader of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing, conveyed the group’s vehement condemnation of the atrocity.

Expressing profound concern over the recurring pattern of violence, Okpalaezeukwu emphasized the urgent need for accountability. He decried the absence of arrests or legal actions against the perpetrators, citing governmental neglect and failure to address the escalating crisis.

Highlighting the historical significance of such unrest, the group underscored the parallels to past conflicts, urging decisive action to avert further turmoil. They issued an ultimatum to security forces, warning of potential community recourse if swift justice is not served.

Moreover, in a broader context, the Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing called for a comprehensive review of national security strategies. They advocated for a multifaceted approach, emphasizing the importance of non-kinetic and political solutions. Additionally, the group urged for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, citing concerns over legal proceedings.

Addressing recent tensions within political spheres, the youth wing clarified their stance on behalf of the Igbo community, disavowing any attempts to incite division. They extended appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his dedication to national stability.
