Ondo SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Susan Alabi, Resigns from Party

With only weeks remaining before the Ondo State gubernatorial election, Mrs. Susan Gbemisola Alabi, the deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has resigned from her position and left the party.

In a letter addressed to the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Bamidele Akingboye, and the National Chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, Alabi announced her decision to step down as Akingboye’s running mate and withdraw from the SDP, effective immediately. Although Alabi did not disclose her reasons for leaving, she expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to run alongside Akingboye.

Her resignation letter, dated October 2, 2024, read: “I hereby formally resign as the Social Democratic Party Deputy Governorship Candidate for Ondo State in the 2024 gubernatorial election. The resignation takes immediate effect.”

She also conveyed her gratitude to the party leadership for their support, stating that her decision followed careful consideration and that she is now seeking new opportunities. Alabi did not indicate her next political move.
