The Ondo State Government has taken decisive action to shake up the management of Sunshine Stars Football Club by suspending the general manager, Tunde Ogunja. The announcement came from the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Sara Yusuf-Ogunleye, on Tuesday.
Yusuf-Ogunleye emphasized that the suspension of Ogunja is part of a broader effort to reposition the club and instill a culture of accountability and performance. She expressed determination to break up any perceived cartels or cabals within the organization to pave the way for positive change.
“We won’t allow cartels and cabals to survive, and I am determined to move the ministry forward,” stated Yusuf-Ogunleye. “I therefore call for the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders for effective performance.”
The decision to suspend Ogunja comes amid a challenging period for Sunshine Stars, who have struggled to secure victories in their recent matches. The team’s performance has seen them languishing in the 16th position on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 36 points.
