The Onitsha South Local Government Chairman, Hon.Chief Emeka Orji have embarked on ward tour to all the seventeen wards that made up the area and also empowered five Indigents people in each of these wards.
Speaking prior to the ward tour, he disclosed that the ward tour was aimed at interfacing with the people of the area, reach out to them by presenting cash gift.
“One Hundred and Seventy indigents would benefit from #10M cash gift, #5M to eighty five Indigent from each seventeen wards in the area while the other #5M would be for the party Indigent members as well as food stuffs as palliatives.
“My aim of carrying out this program is to encourage the Indigent ones, give them sense of belonging and to also know the needs of party members at the ward level.
Flagging off the ward tour at Odakpu 1 and 2 where he was received with some APGA faithfuls amidst jubilation, thanked them for welcoming him, stated that Onitsha South is the local government with most infrastructural development, assuring them that Modebe Avenue, Bida Road and others would soon attract government attention.
On expressing his satisfaction on the level of constructed roads so far in the area, he commended Governor Soludo for listening and granting the request of the people of Onitsha south and informed them of the coming local government election that is coming soon, to vote for the right person for the completion of what he has started.
He stated that”I know some people were not happy about the demolition of illegal structures by the government, it is to restore the master plan and beauty of onitsha south, my father’s building was also affected”he disclosed.
He in all the wards visited, thanked them for their endorsement in just concluded delegate election which brought him back to office, promised to bring back the lost glory of onitsha south.
In their remarks, the visited wards chairmen and their executives so far expressed their happiness on the visit and the infrastructural development in Onitsha south, promised to give their unalloyed support both to him and the governor.
The chairman also presented the cash gift to the indigents who were earlier endorsed by their ward chairmen, woman leaders and youth leaders.
