The managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi PhD, has urged the officers-in-charge (OICs) of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) to be consistent in their efforts at improving the conditions of healthcare centers so as to encourage patients to seek treatment from their facilities.
Dr Onyemaechi made this known moments ago at ASHIA headquarters in Awka where he advised against handling secondary diseases or illnesses that require the expertise of specialists and secondary healthcare providers. He instructed them to always refer the patients to the nearest ASHIA accredited hospital whenever such cases arise.
He further warned that any OIC found treating secondary level of care will be severely dealt with.
Highlight of the meeting was assessment of BHCPF data and revalidation of facility’s register.
