The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has disclosed that 73,844 registered candidates failed to appear for the 2025 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
In a statement on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said that out of the 200,115 candidates who initially expressed interest, two withdrew, bringing the total number of registered participants to 200,113.
Of this number, 126,181 candidates successfully sat for the mock exam, while 88 were disqualified for failing biometric verification. Results for 115,735 candidates are currently available, while 10,446 results are still being processed and will be released soon.
Benjamin explained that the mock examination is optional and aims to test new innovations as well as prepare candidates for the main Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
According to him, “The mock examination serves as a trial version of the UTME, allowing the Board to test new innovations while helping candidates familiarise themselves with the CBT environment.”
He noted that although some technical issues were experienced during the exercise due to the introduction of new features for the 2025 UTME, the board appreciated candidates’ understanding and apologized for the inconvenience.
In a related development, JAMB announced that its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, will meet with heads of tertiary institutions established in 2025 on Monday, April 14, to discuss admission plans for the year.
Candidates who participated in the mock UTME can check their results by sending “MOCKRESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number they registered with.
