The Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation, along with other sponsors, have facilitated the enrollment of over 250 additional natives of Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area, into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIA), continuing from last year’s registration quota.
In his opening remarks, the Traditional Ruler of Nnobi Community, HRH., Igwe Engr. Muodum Nick Obi, Igwe Omenyili of Nnobi, commended the noble sons of the community who are dedicated to ensuring that the indigenous people of the Nnobi have access to affordable and quality healthcare services.
He urged the beneficiaries to prioritize routine health checkups, emphasizing that “early detection leads to early intervention.”
Igwe Omenyili praised the scheme for its transparency and reliability, sharing an eye-witness account of how a pregnant woman gave birth to twins without having to pay any hospital fees, thanks to the scheme.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, represented by Dr. Ifediora Ngozika, also commended the sponsors —Nnobi US Diaspora Group, the Okigbo family, and the Sir Pius Ufudo Foundation—for adopting over 250 indigenes into the scheme.
Dr. Ifediora explained the benefit packages and the ailments covered by the scheme, stressing the importance of health insurance in reducing medical costs while ensuring access to quality healthcare services.
In an interview, Mrs. Okigbo Enemuo Chinyere, a native of Nnobi community and direct beneficiary of the enrollment exercise expressed her gratitude to the sponsors for the opportunity.
She promised to always prioritize her health and that of her family.
