At St. Jude’s Anglican Church in Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area, more than 85 candidates received the sacrament of confirmation and were inducted into the Women’s Guild and Girls’ Guild of the Diocese of Niger West.

The event also included the foundation stone laying for the church, and the consecration of church brigade flags and materials.

The service was led by the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe, who delivered a sermon on “God and Man’s Path in Salvation.” Bishop Ekwe emphasized the importance of holiness, purity, and a prayerful life as essential qualities for true followers of God. He urged the newly confirmed and inducted members to avoid idol worship, fornication, pornography, and other activities that could impede their spiritual growth. He encouraged them to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, live holy lives, overcome fleshly desires, love God’s word, and maintain a robust prayer life.

Venerable Ebelechukwu Egbuji, the Archdeacon of Nando Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. Jude’s Anglican Church, highlighted the significance of the event in demonstrating the church’s spiritual, physical, and numerical growth, and its contribution to community development. He noted the timely foundation stone laying for the building project, which began in 2022 and has been progressing successfully, marking a milestone for both the church and the community.

Venerable Egbuji urged the newly confirmed members to adhere to the church’s teachings and doctrines and to strengthen their faith in God.

Mr. Shedrack Onwuegbuzina, Chairman of the Church Building Committee, praised the rapid progress of the new church building’s construction and expressed gratitude to the Bishop for his blessings on the congregation.

Newly confirmed members, including Mrs. Celina Okechukwu, Miss Gloria Ginikanwa, Miss Euphemia Chinedu, and Master Micheal Onuorah, expressed their gratitude to God and committed to following the church’s teachings, serving as Christ’s ambassadors, and performing good deeds.

The event concluded with choir renditions, prayers, and thanksgiving.
