The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Anambra state marked its 40th anniversary alongside its national body, commemorating four decades of dedicated service aimed at fostering stronger ties between law enforcement and the community. Established in 1984 by the late former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Etim Inyang, the committee’s primary objective remains bridging the gap between police and citizens while ensuring the security of life and property.
The anniversary celebration, held at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Amawbia, was marked by the presentation of medals of honor, awards, and the installation of patrons. Speaking on the occasion, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, praised the collaborative efforts between the PCRC and the people of Anambra State, attributing their partnership to making Anambra one of the safest states in the country. He reiterated his commitment to upholding the fundamental human rights of all citizens while maintaining law and order, emphasizing that this principle is non-negotiable.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Command, delivered a presentation titled “Security Watch,” urging citizens to remain vigilant and conscientious in their daily lives to support the efforts of law enforcement. He challenged PCRC members to serve as ambassadors of peace, aligning with the association’s mission of serving the nation and humanity.
Addressing attendees earlier, the State Chairman of PCRC, Ambassador Okechukwu Okeke, expressed gratitude to committee members for their dedication and called for a continued commitment to the shared goal of building safer, more prosperous, and resilient communities throughout the state.
