People Living With Albinism Deserve Protection and Support, Says Omenugha

On International Albinism Awareness Day 2024, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programmes, joined the Anambra State Albinism Association in a celebratory event at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka. The gathering saw participation from people living with albinism across Anambra State.

In his address, Dr. Omenugha emphasized that albinism is not a disability but a condition requiring special attention. He encouraged individuals with albinism to assert themselves confidently, ensuring their inclusion in society. Dr. Omenugha reassured attendees that the Soludo administration is committed to leaving no one behind, particularly the youth, and emphasized the importance of their active engagement in various initiatives.

Highlighting the opportunities available through the Anambra State youth ministry, Dr. Omenugha mentioned programs such as 1 Youth 2 Skills and the Solution Innovation District, which are designed to support and empower young people.

The event also featured notable attendees including Barrister Chuka Ezewuzie, Chairman of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, among other distinguished guests.
