Peter Obi Criticizes Presidency for Attempting to Tarnish His Image with U.S. Election Comparisons

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has condemned the Presidency for what he describes as a misguided effort to tarnish his reputation by drawing comparisons with the U.S. presidential election. Obi’s criticism was conveyed through a statement released by his media office, titled “Why Desperate OBI Traducers Are Kissing the Dust?”, and signed by his spokesman, Ibrahim Umar.

Obi’s statement refutes claims that he is linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump or the Republican Party, which he views as an attempt to discredit him and curry favor with the Democrats. He criticized the Presidency for using “empty propaganda” to distract from their own shortcomings and policies.

The statement highlighted that such comparisons are an attempt to divert attention from the administration’s failures and evade accountability. Obi emphasized that despite the ongoing media attacks, he remains committed to his vision of a transparent and people-focused leadership for Nigeria.

He urged Nigerians, including his supporters, to remain focused on their goal of achieving a new and egalitarian democracy, despite the current administration’s attempts to undermine his credibility.
