Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the February 2023 general elections, has called on fellow politicians to use public funds to improve the living standards of the people. Obi made this statement on Monday during his visit to the Grimard School of Nursing and Midwifery in Ayingba, Dekina Local Government Area.
“We politicians should realize that the money in our care does not belong to us but to the people and we should spend it to uplift their standard of living,” Obi stated. He emphasized that the funds are intended for public welfare, not personal gain.
During his visit, Obi donated N10 million to the nursing school and promised to install a borehole to serve both the school and the surrounding Ayingba community.
The Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Anthony Adaji, praised Obi’s commitment to education, highlighting his impactful tenure as the governor of Anambra State. “His investment in education was legendary and that reflected in the performance of students throughout his tenure as the governor,” Adaji said.
Obi also visited Ankpa and Olamaboro local government areas, where he inaugurated two boreholes to benefit the local communities.
