President Tinubu Appoints New Heads for NIA and DSS Following Resignations

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Mohamed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Adeola Ajayi as the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) following the resignation of their predecessors.

The newly appointed NIA chief, Mohammed Mohamed, has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, he has served in various capacities, including roles in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja. Prior to his latest appointment, he led the Nigerian mission to Libya as the head of the NIA.

The new Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi, has similarly risen through the ranks within the service. He most recently held the position of Assistant Director-General, with prior service as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi States. His appointment has been met with widespread approval within the DSS, where he is regarded as a brilliant and committed professional. “We are happy that this appointment came; everybody knows his worth,” a senior DSS personnel remarked.

President Tinubu has charged the new security chiefs with the responsibility of repositioning their respective agencies for improved performance. He emphasized the importance of their experience in addressing the country’s security challenges and urged them to enhance collaboration with other security agencies and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

In his statement, President Tinubu also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service to the nation, wishing them success in their future endeavors.
