President Tinubu Assures Chinese Executives of Safe Investment Environment in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has assured Chinese executives that Nigeria remains a safe and welcoming hub for investment. This reassurance came during a visit from a delegation led by the Chairman of the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), Mr. Dai Hegen, at the State House in Abuja.

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed in a statement on Friday that President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to enhancing the business environment for international investors. He highlighted the opportunity to expand business collaboration with CRCC and improve critical infrastructure.

“I have listened to you carefully. Your operation aligns with our objectives. We are reforming the economy and taking crucial steps to ensure accelerated growth. The CRCC, along with its subsidiary CCECC, is a top company and an excellent partner for Nigeria. I am pleased with your involvement in various sectors, particularly rail construction,” President Tinubu said.

He assured the delegation that the government would prioritize the completion of key infrastructure projects. “We will ensure that the rail link between the Ibadan end of the Lagos-Ibadan railway and the Federal Capital Territory is completed. Connecting the hinterland with our coastal seaports is essential,” he added.

Reflecting on his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, President Tinubu noted the success of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, emphasizing the importance of strong partnerships. “We will continue to strengthen our relationship. The door is open for collaboration, particularly in solid minerals development, which is the next frontier for mutually beneficial growth,” he said.

He reassured the Chinese executives of the safety of their investments in Nigeria, highlighting the potential for success and reputational enhancement. “Your investment is secure here. Your success in Nigeria will bolster your reputation globally,” President Tinubu concluded.

In response, CRCC Chairman Mr. Dai Hegen detailed the corporation’s ongoing and completed projects in Nigeria. “The Kano-Kaduna Railway is 39% completed and on track for completion in the second quarter of 2026. The Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan railways have transported approximately 9 million passengers since their completion. Freight services on the Lagos-Ibadan axis have transported 180,000 tons of cargo since September 2023,” he reported.
